Mesothelioma Compensation

People can make big bucks through mesothelioma compensation. Although you may hear about $3 million dollars being awarded to someone with mesothelioma and think that it’s way too much money, it really isn’t. Mesothelioma is a debilitating disease with a high mortality rate, many of the people who contract it never even live to see the fruits of their mesothelioma compensation. This is why companies must never expose their workers to asbestos. It is very dangerous for them to do so and will lead to them most likely contracting mesothelioma, as mesothelioma is contracted after being exposed to asbestos. One company that didn’t heed this warning was an Australian Asbestos company that will now have to pay 1.8 billion dollars to ex-workers who have now contracted mesothelioma.

After being exposed to asbestos through home renovations, Matthew Werfel contracted testicular mesothelioma, a very rare form of mesothelioma cancer.

After contracting mesothelioma due to his job, Werfel warned others that, “Home renovators beware, because you just don’t know where it is. The difference between what you would consider to be gyprock or asbestos sheeting, you don’t know, you need it to be tested. That’s the only way to really know whether it contains asbestos or not.”

Asbestos was commonly used as a building material before it was completely banned in the 1980’s. This is most likely how Werfel came into contact with the deadly material. The asbestos mineral is fire-retardant and also very durable, so it was a great candidate. Sadly, we now know that asbestos causes cancer when you come into contact with it, just like it did for Werfel.

Werfel is joining other home renovators who are suing the Australian company after contracting asbestos related diseases and cancers after renovating homes. The company will have to pay out over 1.8 billion dollars in liability damages to these home renovators.
